Filipino Restaurant Chickboy Sues Customer for Posting Photos of Food Contaminated with Caterpillar

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

chicboy-caterpillar-kangkon

When the infamous Chickboy’s caterpillar “Kangkong” photo was posted on facebook by Sigrid Bernardo, the photos instantly went viral. I just noticed that the caterpillar looks way bigger than the chopped kangkong. Before anyone would scream that this one’s a set-up. Caterpillars are normally green in color, the cook might have missed it when it was thrown into the frying pan.

Instead of issuing an apology the resto issued this statement:

Chicboy Lechon
To all our Patrons, Franchisees and employees, thank you for your comment of support and advises to file a libel case against the writer. We will definitely file a Libel case. We just had to finish our complaint affidavit for filing with the fiscal office. We will definitely not take this sitting down.

Having some zealous admin managing the “Chickboy Fanpage” account didn’t help either when they posted negative status on their facebook. Like some bunch of juveniles. Will the restaurant survive this predicament or will they be forced to close shop?

Miss Earth USA Posted in her Facebook that Manila is Dirty and Noisy

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

miss earth usa on philippin

I saw this being posted around on facebook that Miss Earth USA thinks that the country is dirty and noisy. On top of it, she was annoyed at the ridiculous game show. I can’t blame her really, some parts of Manila is indeed dirty and noisy. Why must the organizers held the venue in hellhole called Manila when they could have chosen cleaner and beautiful areas in Philippines. Not to mention having the contestants parade in some stupid noontime show. Let’s face it, noontime shows here are garbage and nothing but a glorified peryahan. The girl speaks nothing but the truth.

Batangas Hollywood inspired Signage on Taal Volcano

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

batangas signage taal volcano

I really have no idea what Governor Vilma Santos and Vice Governor Leviste had been smoking to come up with this stupid idea to place “Batangas” signage on Taal Volcano. How will this Hollywood inspired signage draw in more tourist for Batangas? Hollywood draws in tourist because of its reputation as movie capital of America and not because of the signage. Better left the sleeping volcano lie.

BATANGAS CITY—It was something only a movie star could have conceived. Why not put up a towering “Batangas” sign on Taal Volcano island similar to the “Hollywood” sign in Los Angeles, California?
The provincial council approved on October 5 a resolution supporting the idea of Governor Vilma Santos-Recto, the award-winning actress, to erect a hard-to-miss landmark and potential tourism draw, according to Vice Governor Mark Leviste II.

Emelie Katigbak, officer in charge of the Batangas tourism office, said floating restaurants or fish pens can be set up on Taal Lake in such a way that their layout would form the famous Batangueño expression “Ala Eh.”

It could be such a dazzling sight especially if lit up at night, she said.
The font would be similar to that of the iconic Hollywood signage, the official added.“It is not an out-of-this-world concept. It’s a simple development which can easily attract attention and even visitors to the area,” Leviste said.

In a text message, Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham Tolentino maintained that the city had never laid claim to either the lake or the volcano.
“However, the best view of Taal Volcano is from the ridge of Tagaytay City where the best photos are shot, the best hotels and restaurants are found and the perfect weather is felt,” Tolentino said.

Tolentino, however, questioned the Hollywood-inspired design for the island, flatly saying: “Why put up a Batangas sign? It won’t help.”
“People, while sipping a cup of coffee, will just say that the view is more beautiful from Tagaytay without that sign,” Tolentino said with a hint of a warning.

Filipino Employee Suspended over DPWH Officials Photoshop Fail

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

DPWH photoshop fiasco fail

I truly felt sorry for the employee that got suspended for the photoshop fiasco of DPWH officials. What seemed to be an innocent photoshop job has turned into an all out meme fest. To save these three stooges’ faces, as usual the lowly employee takes all the heat. Who are they kidding right? No employee would do the job without permission from the higher ups.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — The Philippine government has suspended an employee who posted a fake image on Facebook of three senior officials inspecting the typhoon-ravaged Manila Bay.

The photoshopped image was discovered last week by a blogger and has become a sensation. Other bloggers mocked the Department of Public Works and Highways by making more fake images of the three officials standing in the “Last Supper” and some other iconic paintings and movie posters.

Philippine Computer School AMA Raided by NBI for pirated softwares

Monday, September 26th, 2011

Sometimes having licensed Windows operating system isn’t enough and AMA computer college has learned it the hard way. It must have been embarassing for the school to be in this situation.

However, what is this issue where NBI agents asked for 20% of the settlement fee between the school and BSA? Are the NBI mercenaries for BSA now?

MANILA, Philippines – Officials of the National Bureau of Investigation-Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) conducted a raid at the AMA Computer College, Inc. along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) on Tuesday.

The school will face charges of violating copyright infringment laws under the Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code. Authorities confiscated around 30 computers. The school’s administration, meanwhile, denied that it is using unauthorized software.

In a press statement, the school said it has “always been compliant with all the IP laws relating to computer software licenses.” The school also accused representatives of the Business Software Alliance (BSA) of coercion.

“Instead of listening to our reasons, the BSA representatives, Attys. Ponce and Poblador, were coercing the company to purchase additional licenses from them amounting to around P100 million. These representatives, in the presence of NBI agents, also declared that our company has to pay NBI agents 20% of whatever settlement we can arrive at. Said acts are tantamount to illegal marketing,” it said.

SM Mall Shootings In Philippines

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

2 boys killed sm pampanga

What’s with these people nowadays on kamikaze mission to take down their lovers or enemies in public places like the mall? Why can’t they just settle the score privately instead of subjecting the public to their personal drama. This is the third time the mall shootings occured this year. Mall should invest in high tech metal detectors instead of manually inspecting bags.

Supt. Wilson Santos of Mexico, Pampanga police said the shooting incident involving the 2 minors happened in front of the Astrovision store at the mall’s Building 3.

Quoting police, SM said the 13-year-old boy first shot his alleged lover, a 16-year-old boy, in the head. The boy, who used a caliber .22 pistol, then shot himself in the head.

Initial investigations showed that the 13-year-old boy planned the shooting, based on his posts on his Facebook page prior to the incident.

Last September 14, Shella Macapugay shot and killed her husband, Abel, who worked as a sales clerk at the Homeworld store in SM North Edsa after he allegedly left her for another woman.

A security guard who tried to stop Macapugay from committing suicide was also killed.

Last July 29, a security guard was killed in a shootout with Games and Amusement Board employee inside the restroom of SM Delgado Mall in Iloilo City.

Lechon Buwaya in Davao Philippines

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

lechon buwaya davao

Check out this very unusual crocodile lechon delicacy in Davao. I must admit though I feel squeamish just by looking at it, let alone eat it. Sure, these crocodiles are bred in farms but despite their ferocious nature, it’s hard to think of them food. Would love to see the look of guests when crocodile lechon would be served at weddings, baptismal and children’s parties.

If Steve Irwin would be alive today, I don’t think he’ll be happy seeing crocs being turned into consumable meat.

Woman Gives Birth In-flight Philippine Airlines

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

aida alamillo gave birth on plane

I used to think that women giving birth in-flight happens in movies due to flight restriction to near term pregnant women nowadays. But then again Aida Alamillo was actually planning to give birth in USA. I was told that the baby won’t get the american citizenship after all since it was a Philippine registered airline. Had she taken US registered airlines, then the baby automatically gets US citizenship.

Will PAL give freebies to the in-flight baby? Somehow I doubt it. The last time I was on domestic flight, they only provided water, coffee and juice.

MANILA, Philippines–A Philippine Airlines (PAL) passenger gave birth to a healthy baby boy while on board PAL’s B747 flight en route to San Francisco from Manila on Monday, Sept. 19.

Aida Alamillo, a passenger of PAL PR flight 104, seat number 83J, gave birth with the assistance of three nurses on board and several cabin crew led by Flight Steward Francis Lloyd Lobo.

Alamillo, who delivered pre-term at 35 weeks, was aided in doing deep-breathing and relaxation exercises, as a prelude to the birth of her child. The baby boy was described by flight purser Antonia Castaneda in her Flight Incident Report (FIR) as having “good skin color”. She wrote that “baby started to breast feed”, and gave a “loud cry” upon getting out of his mother’s womb.

The mother was described to have had “minimal pain”. An ambulance and a team of paramedics were alerted prior to the plane’s landing. Mother and child were assisted by the PAL Cabin Crew team, the PAL staff from San Francisco station and the medical team upon arrival in the city. Mother and child were brought to the Mills Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame.

Passengers cheered as the baby boy filled the cabin with his cries. The incident is considered a rarity. PAL’s cabin crew, all considered “safety professionals”, are trained in handling child-birth situations in flight.

Anti Planking Law in Philippines

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

anti planking law philippin

Planking fever has reached the Philippine shores. What started off as a fun pastime which is for Facebook posting, it has now evolved as a tool for militant group protest. Some solon with the name of Winston Castelo obviously wants to get some attention (pa pansin) and filed the Anti-Planking Bill during street rallies. For the record, he’s not banning recreational (pang facebook) planking. Why not make a law that prohibits protests that endangers one life and cite planking as an example. If protesters decides to make use of “owling”, will he file another bill for that?

Is this some futile attempt to make people take their minds off on the controversial “RH BILL”?

Concerned with the safety of student protesters, Quezon City 2nd District Representative Winston Castelo filed a bill that prohibits planking during street rallies.

The filing of the “Anti-Planking Act of 2011,” came a day after members of the League of Filipino Students went face down in main thouroughfare Espana road during the transport strike.

“The parent in me tells me that this precedent in the case of the this massive transport strike where militant street protesters who are students of various schools have to lie down or serve as ‘planks’ across the road to disrupt what should be normal traffic could just be very dangerous in the future,” the lawmaker said.
