Unofficially Yours – Filipino Film Trailer

Sunday, February 5th, 2012

Unofficially Yours star cinema’s romantic comedy starring Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz. This is a typical romantic comedy about friends with benefits. Well, I dunno why there’s a need to jump in the band wagon. We all know how this one would end, they will fall madly in love with each other so *yawn*. I don’t know why Director Cathy Molina saying that the people are ready for “mature” stories. It’s not like filipinos are kept in the dark about that kind of set-up in relationships.

Filipino Movie Babae sa Septic Tank Failed to make it to Oscars

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

I wasn’t surprised at all that the much hyped indie movie “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” failed to make it to the Oscars. I’ve seen the film and I wasn’t impressed and it hardly made an impact for me. Sure, the film had it’s moment and while it wants to convey a message, typical audience can’t relate. Only those who are into filmmaking can understand the humor. It’s more like a lampoon of indie filmmaking industry.

My Cactus Heart – Filipino Movie

Friday, January 13th, 2012

my cactus heart tagalog movie

Normally I wouldn’t bat an eyelash on Star Cinema’s latest mediocre film offering. When I read on their official facebook fanpage site stating that “My Cactus Heart” is an indie film produced by Star Cinema. What the hell?! A major movie outfit just labeled their product as indie when in fact it’s not. The reason why indie films are labeled as such because they are produced independently without the backing of major movie outfit. It’s like a cow’s milk carelessly labeled as soy milk.

Cactus Heart Synopsis

My Cactus Heart’ is an upcoming indie film that stars real-life sweethearts Maja Salvador and Matteo Guidicelli. Salvador stated that the film will be released on the first quarter of 2012.

Directed by Enrico Santos, ‘My Cactus Heart’ is about a girl who finds it very hard to fall in love. Her leading man in the movie is Guidicelli who plays the character of a musician named Carlo.

Produced by Star Cinema, ‘My Cactus Girl’ had a former working title of ‘Basted’. Also, there are rumors that Rosanna Roces is a part of the movie.

Maja Salvador currently appears in the ABS-CBN drama, ‘My Binondo Girl’ alongside Kim Chiu and Xian Lim.

Asiong Salonga Manila Kingpin Movie – Controversial MMFF Movie

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

asiong salonga manila king

Asiong Salonga is one of this year’s controversial Metro Manila Film Festival from Tikoy Aguiluz restraining order to halt the film’s showing to the “sabotage” of the film prints. Let’s start with the begrudged director Tikoy Aguiluz. Apparently, the director was not pleased when the producers decided to make major changes on the film editing. He filed a restraining order to force the producers to take his name off the movie credits. The next controversy is where EJ Ejercito claimed of a sabotage where SQ laboratories released only 17 prints out of 51 films which affected the ticket sales.

What is Asiong Salonga Movie really about? The movie is a biopic of a gang leader Asiong Salonga, known for his crimes but also for his good heart as well. He robs from the rich and gives to the poor, a modern day robinhood.

Production wise, the cinematography is a step up from previous action films. However, I couldn’t help but snicker at EJ Ejercito’s clean shaven armpits. I mean, he’s portraying a “macho” guy image here. Does the real Asiong Salonga actually shaved his?

KC Concepcion to Host Singing competition The X Factor Philippines

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

kc concepcion x-factor

KC Concepcion will indeed host the next biggest singing reality show The X Factor Philippines. Now that dispels the rumors of her possible transfer to another network. She definitely staying with ABS CBN. Anyway, it’s about time for ABS CBN to put up an actual singing competition instead of that lame Pilipinas got talent franchise which has turned into singing competition. I wonder though if we’ll also get to see the shadow of Piolo Pascual in The X-factor?

The search is on for the Philippines’ next singing superstar with KC Concepcion hosting the country’s biggest and newest singing-reality show The X Factor Philippines.

Starting January, KC will be visiting different cities like Cebu, Bacolod, Manila, Olongapo, and Batangas for the auditions. “We will start scouting for talented Filipinos who will join and compete to become the next singing superstar. So if you have the X factor or if you believe you have the X factor, then go to the auditions. I will see you there,” said KC, who recently renewed her contract with ABS-CBN.

The X Factor Philippines, which will air in the second quarter of 2012, is a singing-reality search open to Filipinos, aged 13 and above, who may audition as solo, duet, or group. KC will be joined by four other judges or mentors in the program. Apart from the show, KC said she is also set to do a drama series, a movie, and join ASAP. She said it is difficult to resist opportunities that come her way and looks forward to her new projects. “I will end this year with a happy heart and start my year with a happy heart,” she said.

Filipino Singer Eric Santos as Prince Eric in Little Mermaid Musical

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Erik Santos bounces back on his career as he gets his first acting debut on Broadway musical “The Little Mermaid”. He plays the role of Prince Eric, Ariel’s love interest. Here I was thinking his career will go down the gutters as Boy Abunda admonished him for trashtaking “Backroom” management.

Erik Santos makes his professional acting debut on stage in Atlantis Production’s version of the hit Broadway musical The Little Mermaid, where he will play the role of Prince Eric opposite Rachelle Ann Go as the mermaid-turned-human Ariel. “Nag-re-rehearse na kami ngayon. I’m very excited kasi this is my first time to do theater so kumbaga ibang experience naman for me,” he said.

The 29-year-old crooner admitted he feels very privileged to be offered the role and did not have to go through any more grueling auditions. “Siguro I’m lucky enough na hindi po ako nag-audition for the role kasi Direk Bobby Garcia who’s our director in The Little Mermaid told me about two years ago pa na ako na yung role na Prince Eric. Si Direk Bobby naman, close kami niyan, kumbaga dinerect na niya yung mga past concerts ko. I’m really enjoying now. Ibang klaseng experience pala yung teatro,” he admitted to Push.com.ph.

Praybeyt Benjamin – Filipino Comedy

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

praybeyt benjamin moviePraybeyt Benjamin is Vice Ganda’s follow up movie since his smash hit “Petrang Kabayo”. One couldn’t help but find the movie a gay version of Goldie Hawn’s “Private Benjamin”. Maybe that’s why they altered the title. In fairness the movie’s got potential. I think this one is better than Petrang Kabayo. In fact it’s a laugh to see Vice Ganda making pa-boy effect.

I couldn’t help but snickered upon seeing DJ Durano’s mug once again. This could only mean that Wenn Deramas is once again helming this movie.

Synopsis

Benjamin Santos came from a long line of soldiers in his clan. Since he turned out to be gay, his grandfather considered him a disgrace to the family. When the country is on the brink of civil war, he decides to enlist in his father’s place. Life at the bootcamp isn’t as easy as expected but soon finds himself falling for his hunky Sargeant.
