Block & White Philippines Faces Controversy on its TV Ad

Carlos Celdran voices out his disgust over Block & White’s newest tv commercial. In the TV ad, a skater girl was recruited by a bunch of bimbos for a make over. After they dolled up the skater girl, they were not satisfied with her skin color. That’s where Block & White enters the scene which magically gave her rosy white complexion.
For most grown ups, they already know this TV ad smells of bullcrap. But for young impressionable girls, they would take the product as their holy grail of romance. The ad conditions their young minds that skin color is the true measurement of beauty. Lets face it, while we may dismiss the issue as silly but if you get bombarded with same ad over and over again, it will sink deep into your consciousness.
Lets see how the dialogue between Carlos Celdran and Block & White marketing peeps would go.

Grace Lee is set to host GMA 7′s cooking show, “Cooking with the Stars”. After the doomed romance with Pnoy, this should be a perfect diversion for her. I don’t have anything to comment much since the press release is pretty much self explanatory.
Posted in Filipino TV Shows | No Comments »The Korean TV host is thankful to be part of Cooking with the Stars.This is Grace’s second time to host a cooking show after being part of Eateria, an innovative cooking show that combines food, cooking and travel. It was broadcast starting November 2009 and used to air every Sunday morning on GMA-7.
Grace was chosen not only for her hosting skills but also because she completed a course in culinary arts under Chef Rob Pengson in the Global Academy. Guests on the show include celebrity moms namely Camille Prats, Angelika Dela Cruz, Christine Jacob, Suzi Entrata-Abrera, and Candy Pangilinan.Kapuso stars Heart Evangelista, Carla Abellana and Jolina Magdangal are also part of the show’s lineup.
Every episode will feature a celebrity who has a food-related dilemma, and at the end of the program, the resident chefs will offer solutions on how to solve the problem.
Another twist to the show is “Cooking Star of the Barangay,” where the show will visit barangays, bringing with them a live brass band and dancing food servers.
Grace admits: “Cooking is very therapeutic especially when you smash the garlic. Because when I’m mad, I just smash the garlic. At least from there, I can cook good food.”

Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka Synopsis
Mabilis na nagkaibigan sina Erica (Jackie) at Jake (Geoff). Akala ni Erica, ’yon na ang true love niya – pero biglang nawala si Jake nang wala man lang kahit anong pasabi. Lubos na pagkabigo ang naramdaman ng dalaga at sinikap niyang kalimutan na rin agad si Jake; subalit isang trahedya ang magpapalala sa kalagayan niya. Mauulila sila ng kapatid na si Bianca (Jennica) dahil sa isang car accident kung saan si Erica pa ang nagmamaneho. Walang kayamanang maiiwan sa kanila, at nagkaroon pa ng komplikasyon sa mata ni Bianca na maaari nitong ikabulag. Mag-aalok ng tulong si Jaime (Michael), ang may-ari ng kumpanyang pinatatrabahuan ni Erica, at walang magagawa ang dalaga kundi tanggapin ito. Bubuti ang kalagayan ni Bianca… at manliligaw si Jaime kay Erica. Dahil sa kabutihan nito, at dahil na rin sa utang na loob, sinagot niya ito.
Itatakda ang kasal nina Erica at Jaime. Uuwi ang mga anak ni Jaime na sina Leslie (Angelika) at Joaquin. At mayayanig ang mundo ni Erica – dahil si Joaquin na bunsong anak ng kanyang pakakasalan ay si Jake na una at tunay niyang mahal!

Since she refused to have her show pitted against her darling daughter’s talkshow in the morning, hers was scheduled in the afternoon. The format of the show is similar to that of Oprah. With her engaging in twitter war with various personalities, will it affect the success of her show? Critics find her show lackluster and boring. Goodluck to mega star and hope she bounces back.

Hiyas (lit. Gem) is an upcoming Philippine romantic-drama TV series aired by ABS-CBN that will premiere on May 28, 2012 replacing Wako Wako on its Kapamilya Gold timeslot. It is the 15th installment of the Precious Hearts Romances series.
It will be the 3rd Year Anniversary Installment for The Precious Hearts Romances Television Adaptations for giving Three Years of Many Top Rating Serials. And is the First Adaptation to have a Fantasy Action Adventure for Television under Precious Hearts Romances’ Television Distribution.
Silang is a native warrior from the tribe of Tanah. He wants to marry his childhood sweetheart Giana to unite their warring clans. But the family of Giana has one condition: Silang has to find and bring back the missing Gem of Tanah that gives luck and prosperity to their people.
There is only one person who can help Silang find and get the Gem. She’s none other than Sapphire, the beautiful and charming city girl who Silang’s avoiding. Though he doesn’t want to, Silang is forced to partner with her, who is more than willing to help as her heart is close to the people of Tanah.
While they are searching for the Gem, Silang and Sapphire are drawn closer to each other. Eventually, the Gem falls in Silang’s hands as he falls in love with Sapphire.

Valiente 2012 – Filipino TV Series Remake

SYNOPSIS
The soap’s story centered on two best friends: Theo Braganza and Gardo Valiente, whose lives are opposite from one another. Theo was born rich, a playboy and was groomed as an heir to one of the biggest haciendas, Hacienda Braganza. Gardo on the other hand, was born poor, God-fearing and was poised to take over his father Damian as one of Hacienda Braganza’s workers. Despite their differences, Gardo and Theo treated each other like brothers until Gardo falls for Theo’s youngest sister, Maila. Their relationship was doomed from the start as Theo never liked Maila for Gardo as he preferred Maila’s elder sister Leona to fall for his friend. The conflict turned for the worst as an uprising occurred in Hacienda Braganza which caused the death of Gardo’s father Damian and scarred Gardo’s face after a battle with Theo.
Gardo later on planned his revenge during Theo’s wedding with Elaine. However, the bloodshed resulted in both Maila and Leona’s death and the Braganza matriarch Donya Trinidad was killed as well. Since then, the two men had vowed revenge against one another and fight till the last breath.

Luna Blanca Synopsis
The story of Luna Blanca begins with Rowena (Camille) who is believed to be the last descendant of Luna, the woman with a mystical twin shadow named Celestina.
Rowena grows up under the protective wing of her grandfather, Lolo Igme. She is clueless of her mythical roots and Lolo Igme would always warn her to be mindful of her surroundings.
Then, Rowena meets Luis (Raymart), the rich and kind-hearted unico hijo of Doña Consuelo (Marissa). Despite the extreme difference in their lifestyles, they fall madly in love with each other and their relationship grows even stronger with Rowena’s pregnancy.
When Lolo Igme learns of Rowena’s situation, he once again cautions her to be extra careful of the supernatural beings that inhabit their land. He tells that engkantos are believed to be most fond of pregnant women.
One day, Rowena gets lost while roaming in the forest. Engulfed in tension and fear, Rowena feels that a shadow is following her. Suddenly, she sees an unknown creature – a dark and terrifying engkanto! Panic-stricken, Rowena immediately faints upon seeing the dreadful creature.
When she wakes up, Rowena learns from the villagers that it has been a week since her disappearance. She slowly regains memory and Rowena reveals that an engkanto raped her. No one would believe her story including Luis who vows to exact revenge. He sets off to the forest and comes face to face with the engkanto. He fights against the terrible monster and because of its powers, Luis will be banished to their realm.
Doña Consuelo’s anger aggravates towards Rowena and blames her for Luis’ unexplainable disappearance. Left with no choice but to leave their mansion, Rowena heads out to Manila to start anew. Meanwhile, she feels uneasy with her pregnancy and fears that it has something to do with her horrible experience with the engkanto. On the day of her delivery, Rowena gives birth to twin girls, but much to her bewilderment, the babies have different features – one is a fair-skinned mestiza (Blanca) while the other one has a very dark complexion (Luna).
Rowena believes that Luna is her offspring from the engkanto. Because of this, she resents and neglects Luna but showers Blanca with her love and affection. Despite this, Luna doesn’t harbor any grudge against her mother. The twins are likewise very close and inseparable. Luna is carefree and even becomes the protector of the weakling Blanca. Luna’s shadow also turns out to be their friend and defender whenever someone bullies them.
However, the twins’ life is about to change with Rowena barely making enough money to make ends meet. Because of her dire situation, Rowena decides to give up Blanca for adoption to Doña Corazon, a rich spinster who likes Blanca very much and treats her like her own daughter. Luna, feeling very sad about the separation, instructs her twin shadow to join Blanca and keep her safe.
How will the separate lives of Luna and Blanca affect their relationship? When the time comes and their paths cross again, will the sisters be able to discover their true identities and reconnect with each other? Will Rowena find it in her heart to accept Luna and acknowledge her as her own daughter? What will be Rowena’s reaction if Luis comes back after being away for many years? Will Luis succeed in having a second chance at life and love?

The Amazing Race Philippines Audition Schedule

I’ve always wanted to join the Amazing race US but since I’m not holding american passport, I may have to kiss the dream goodbye. But TV5 decides to bring Amazing Race to the Philippines, to be hosted by Derek Ramsay. I have no idea how the franchise would look like, I’m hoping it won’t suffer the same fate to that of Philippines’ Next Top Model. We’ll see how it goes.
