Guni Guni – Filipino Horror Movie
Saturday, August 11th, 2012Once again we see Lovi Poe in Regal Film’s horror flick “Guni Guni”. Seriously, don’t they get tired of casting her in horror films. We keep seeing this chick everywhere. Anyway the movie trailer fails to grab my attention. The CGI and make up looks very fake. Looks like a high school production to me with bigger budget.

Tuesday, August 7th, 2012
The Reunion movie is Star Cinema’s next generation of Barkada movies which features young actors such as Enchong Dee, Enrique Gil, Xian Lim and Kean Cipriano. The film is directed by Frasco Mortiz who happens to be the son of Direk Bobot Mortiz and nephew of ABS CBN Executive Charo Santos. Gee, I guess it must be nice to have a family in showbiz to get a head start.
The film is about four guys who obviously aren’t too happy with their current careers in life. They deal with it by reminiscing how cool their lives during their high school days. Eventually, they concluded that their misery started with the breakup of their friend’s relationship. By plotting to get them back together, they hope that their lives will improve if that happens.

Despite being unfairly disqualified by Cinemalaya for casting issues that doesn’t stop Emerson Reyes from finishing his movie MNL 143. Knowing that it’s going to be a big challenge for him financially, he forges on doing all that he can to make his film become a reality. Finally his movie is finished and ready for screening. His work MNL 143 proves that you don’t need Cinemalaya to earn a big break. I hope that more people will support this movie.
MNL 143 Synopsis
On a commuter’s trip from Manila’s business district to the suburbs, the director finds a myriad of possibilities, ranging from miniature ironic situations to a love story that is finally finding its unexpected closing. An emotional rollercoaster ride of despair, dreams and desire, MNL 143 is also a black comedy about limited private spaces in conflict with sprawling public realms.

Crazy Love – Filipino Film
Monday, June 4th, 2012For Star Cinema’s 20th anniversary, they decided to make another generic shallow and vapid romance anthology instead of worthwhile movies. They can do whatever they want but they can’t no longer deceive the public for long.
Crazy Love Synopsis
The film is a romance anthology in which the casts are involved in various crazy antics for love’s sake. Gerald Anderson will play the role of a macho dancer who will come in between mother and daughter, Pokwang and Kim Chiu.
More details to come soon since the film is under production.

Born to Love You – Tagalog Movie
Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012
Coco Martin and Angeline Quinto for the first time will pair for this sappy generic chick flick “Born to Love You”. I have no idea why they decided to give Angeline a movie despite not having any acting chops nor any charisma. I find the trailer painful to watch, it’s like watching a high school grade acting, even Coco Martin’s acting couldn’t save hers. Perhaps if this was Julia Montes instead of Angeline, the movie might even be a blockbuster hit.

Friday, May 18th, 2012
Kimmy and Dora is back! This time the movie goes into different direction, exploring the Korean origins of the twins. However, after breaking off the tradition of arranged marriage. Their lives are shaken with the twist and turns caused by karma. The twins tackle the biggest challenge of their lives which is facing the curse that haunts them and their loved ones.
I’m pretty much excited at the follow up sequel to the smash indie hit Kimmy Dora. But I find the marketing of the film rather weak as opposed to other star cinema’s own production. Like for instance, in social network everyone is talking about corazon movie even though the film was mediocre. Nonetheless I hope this film will get much audience since I’m tired of all that corny “bakla” movies from Vice Ganda.

Thursday, May 10th, 2012
I must admit I never heard about this movie since there’s not much hype about this one. Since it’s regal films, there’s not much marketing buzz going around. Not like in Star Cinema where even their lousiest shit movies get some hype. Anyway the story looks promising since we’re all tired of Star Cinema’s generic regurgitated crap.
The Mommy Returns Synopsis:
“THE MOMMY RETURNS” is a family comedy-horror movie about a mother, Ruby (POKWANG) who dies right on the day of her 25th wedding anniversary with gorgeous husband, William (GABBY CONCEPCION). With her untimely death, she is temporarily trapped in PURGA (short for Purgatory) with its guardian, Dyoga (JOHN LAPUS, ang diyosa ng purga) and the pesky Manny, the chicken pet of San Pedro.
Enter CATHERINE (RUFFA GUTTIEREZ) – a younger, fresher, and much, much prettier woman who comes into the life of William. When she threatens to take Ruby’s place as mother to her three beloved children (KIRAY, GERALD PESIGAN and JILLIAN WARD), hell (er, purgatory) breaks loose as Ruby escapes back to earth as a ghost to scare and drive Catherine out of the family she left behind!
What follows is a riot of scary antics and tactics that will prove that “hell hath no fury like a dead woman,” especially if she is a mother who can’t leave her children behind!
This year’s Regal Films’ laugh-til-you-cry Mother’s Day offering is directed by JOEL LAMANGAN from a screenplay by Senedy H. Que. It opens nationwide on May 9, 2012.

The Mistress – Tagalog Movie
Wednesday, May 9th, 2012With the success of “No other Woman”, star cinema will once again try to milk the “infidelity” drama genre dry. This time the movie aptly titled “The Mistress” will have John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo in starring roles. Director Olivia Lamasan is set to direct this “No other woman” spin off. Did I just mention that they will shoot in Vienna Austria? Yeah right as if shooting abroad will actually give the film some credibility. Anyway more details to follow when the movie trailer will be released.

Friday, April 6th, 2012Angelica Panganiban will star with Piolo Pascual in this Romantic Comedy “Every Breath U Take”. Judging from this trailer, the movie isn’t strong enough to generate interest from me. I presume this is just one of star cinema’s generic and formulaic films. I don’t think the two have no chemistry whatsoever. Just watching these two make out makes me gag.

Saturday, March 3rd, 2012
Trouble’s brewing at the Cinemalaya when the three bigwigs of the festival, Laurice Guillen, Robbie Tan and Nestor Jardin considers resigning. The conflict is due to the disqualification of MNL 143 film by Emerson Reyes. The problem is actually petty since the officials doesn’t not agree with the casting choice of Allan Paule and Joy Viando. Hence decides to disqualify Reyes. I find it unfair that they disqualify a film because of casting choice. It defeats the purpose of cinemalaya which is the spirirt of independent films.
